The medal measures 45 mm in diameter, and weighs 1 Troy Oz. The Edge lettering reads: GOLD ELECTROPLATE ON STERLING.

In 1922, the beautiful treasures buried in the tomb of the Pharaoh Tutankhamen for more than 3000 years were discovered. In November, 1976, at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., many of these treasures were on special display in a public exhibition -- the first in a series of exhibitions held in major art museums throughout the U.S., arranged through the courtesy of the Egyptian Museum, Egypt\'s national museum. This medal is one of a collection of 36 issued in tribute to Egypt\'s ancient art heritage in connection with the public exhibition. Each of the 36 medals depicts one of the golden treasures created for the Pharaoh, and these works of art are among the most beautiful and most important of these treasures. The reverse bears the title of the work, together with the symbol of the Egyptian Museum.
