This is a beautiful, rare fragment of mid 17th century silk cisele cut velvet, Italian c1650s or so.
The design is a typial, small curvilinear lattice enclosing styalised vases and ivy leaves by the look of it. The colours are deep and rich, rich brown velvet pile on a green background, much more beautiful than the photos.

It has one selvedge present. The condition is good, an interesting fragment for study or a collection. It measures about 7\" by 6\" or 18 cms by 15 cms. Thank you for looking.
