1937 Model Singer Featherweight 221 in Almost PerfectCondition.

This is a 5Ðay sale that will end on Thursday night, sew mark your calendars. Thursday is my night.

This fabulous Featherweighthas been cleaned in and out, oiled, greased & timed (well serviced). I even clean the grooves on outer screw heads. Drip pad that catches any oil or grease from servicing in the bottom cover has been changed, old oil will give off a strong smell so that has been taken care of. Bobbin case, rotary hook, hand wheel & motorpulleychecked for embedded thread and clean, wiring and plug on foot pedal have been checked and appear to be in great shape and have beendeemed safe. Original V styledrive belt has been inspected (already broken in and pliable) that will last for years. Light bulb is new. Tension adjusted for medium weight fabric. This is an older Featherweight and has an early style tension adjuster with out number markings, this is not a defect, this if factory and works well. if you need to re-adjust for different weightfabrics see manual.I don\'t just service my machines I totally go over all parts and inspect, and adjust if necessary, I take pride in my work like the men and women back in the day that manufactured them in the factory in New Jersey.This beauty has been detailed, cleaned in and out. Then machines surface had to be stripped of old worn clear coat and worn decals, then new decals added and several coats of clear added to seal them in and protect the original paint with was called \'japanning\' a process that is almost a lost art. Machine was totallyhand buffed before clear coat was applied, and polished again with a expensivesynthetic wax.

It is not necessary to totally disassemble a machine and put it all back together again as claimed to be done by other sellers, the factory built them to last a long time and taking them apart can cause damage and never needs to be done. I start with only thehighest qualitymachines and casesthat I canfind and then make themperformto their best,then enhance orrestoretheir cosmetic beauty. This machine was one of them that I have acquired of the(pre-war,WW II)generation .

It shows signsthat it had been well maintained though the years.Motor has been checked out and cleaned inside near armature to make sure that brushes make perfect electrical contact, old driedgrease in grease tubes ofmotor has been removed and replaced with new lube,brushes have been cleaned, internal wiring is safe. If at times thereare any problems with motor turning the machine, just loosen the side screw on the right side that holds motor to bracket and slide motor up or down until it sew correctly, if the belt is too tight or loose it will effect how the machine runs. See last few pages of manual for adjustments to belt.Foot controller also cleaned, adjusted for speed and checked.Foot cushions on machine and foot controller have been replaced with new ones. Runs and sews perfectly-makes a beautiful stitch. This 1937 model has a lot more chrome than most newer Featherweights. hand wheel, stitch indicator, and most outer screws are quality Chrome. I just love shiny!

The Celtic patterngold decals are in tact and glow beautifully. Little white specks are dust.

Ready to go to her new home. Just remember to use the manual for how and when to lubricate and for directions forusing the attachments. Other manuals are available on-line from other websites and worth downloading for future use. There are a large verity of otherattachments for different applicationsavailable on if needed. Servicing this machine yourself will save you a lot of money just read the manual.

Case show very light wear for it\'s age. No musty smell as it has been cleaned and sealed inside, very little wear wear to the corners. Outside has also beencleaned and touched up were needed, inside lining also invery good shape. The older Featherweight\'s had leather handles and most have deteriorated over the years, not so for this one, it is in great condition.

This beautiful Featherweight has it\'s attachments plus early style zipper foot, 6 bobbins and Singer bobbin case, solid strong carry case with a great attachment tray. Also includes user manual. The case shows some light wear, I touched up a few scuffs were needed than stabilized out side and sealed inside to keep it fresh smelling and clean , every case that I ever received had some white paint on them caused by putting them inside the white trimmed closets, this is history.

I would advise to use the new odorless oil Singer makes, \'included\' and use new grease to lube motor tubes and gears, You can order a small tube of Singer gear and motor lube and oil on from another seller. The old ones are not odorless and degraded over the years. Never oil the motor, use grease (lube). Remember to unplug machine when not in use. Yes,light bulb does get hot!

This Great Featherweight is a true Quilters Dream! Will serve you well for many years to come. Serial Number is AE413393 made in New Jersey USA to last forever.This is a vintage sewing machine, it has very light wear as expected, a few light pin scratches on top neck that were made by the last lady who used it. Back in the day some ladies would wrap a piece of material around the top of machine\'s neck to hold sewing pins.. a littlebit of the machine\'s history). A fewdimpleson sewing surface that have been minimized by buffing and sealer, It is probably the nicest on tonight. Please use photos belowto get a better description. Any questions that you have please ask before offerding. I have been using and repairing machines for most of my life, I would not sell anything that I would not use myself. I was raised sewing on a featherweight and I am very knowledgeable on the use and service of these machines. It will be well packaged for shipment via FedEx ground, also will be insured and signature confirmation will be needed. Machineshave been known to bouncearound during shipping causing the pinto go through the case cover and breaking, I will place a thread spool over it to protect it and extra bubble wrap on top.
