Province of Pennsylvania. May 1, 1760. Five Shillings. Plate B. Printed by BENJAMIN FRANKLIN Issue. Contemporary sewn centerfold. Fine.
Fr. PA-109. This Rare, highly elusive BENJAMIN FRANKLIN printed Five Shillings note is well centered on both sides and has a well worn yet clearly printed “Printed by B. FRANKLIN” legend on its lower reverse. Contemporarily sewn at its centerfold with colonial period thread. Only faint partial signatures are visible and the date of May 1, 1760 is quite clear and readable. Overall, there is even wear from circulation for the grade.This note is a very collectable example of this Benjamin Franklin Issue rarity. This 5s denomination is quite rare with only 9,900 notes issued, only a mere 4.950 notes would have plate letter “B” printed upon them. This is a most acceptable mid-quality note that should fit well for most BENJAMIN FRANKLIN issue print and paper money collectors.
