Original 1950\'s \"Bobby Drinking Bear\" battery operated toy with original box. The toy was made by Yone of Japan & has their maker\'s mark on the front bottom left corner of the box. The toy measures 10 1/2 inches tall with the head in the upward position by 5 1/2 inches across the chest where the bottle is by 5 3/8 inches deep. The fur on the bear & the glass eyes & the neck ribbon are in excellent condition with only slight wear.
The bear\'s rubber nose is a little contorted from age & there is a 1/4 inch separation next to the tongue. When looked at quickly it appears that there is a crack on one side of the cup. But, upon closer examination the line (which is not straight) was formed when the cup was assembled. So, the plastic cup & the bottle are both in excellent condition.The tin litho base has deep rich colors. There is one small smooth bend on the viewer\'s left hand side of the base. The sides of the tin base have some light oxidation & age lines. The bottom of the base under the toy has lots of oxidation & some wear & age lines. The inside of the base lid has minor oxidation. The area where the batteries fit in, including the battery terminals, is fresh & bright & near mint. There is something small shaking around loose inside of the toy. When we put batteries in to test the toy one eye lighted up. But, there was no other action occurring.The box is 100% complete & is entirely original. The box colors are very fresh, deep, & attractive with optimum richness & absolutely no fading. The box lid has some wrinkling, creasing, bending. One side panel has a tear & some scotch tape repair. One end panel has a tear, some crinkling, a replaced staple, & some scotch tape repair. The bottom section of the box has a tear down one side, some light aging as well as a stain at one corner. Even with these flaws to the box from a front view the box is still super attractive & appealing. The box measures 10 5/8 inches by 5 3/4 inches by 5 7/8 inches.
