Thistea potwas acquired in China by the sellers in the late1980s. It is difficult to determine the age of this tea pot--a bestestimate might be the 1980s.

Note:One of the very best frog-themed teapots.

The sellers worked as Foreign Experts in China in the 1980s and early1990s. We assembled our collection mostly by traveling to Yixing Countyon collecting expeditions. We usually stayed at the Yixing Binguan (anold cadre campus-style hotel)in Yixing Townand traveled bypublic transportation to Dingshan (also called Jinshan)where the tea pots are designed and made.

We have now retired and face the need to downsize so we areselling-off much of our collection. We want to place our tea pots into thehands of collectors and/or green tea enthusiasts.

The tea pot as we know it originated in Yixingand as the making oftea by the infusion process spread the Yixing tea pot set the standardforthe design and quality fortea pots as tea drinking spread aroundthe world. Because Yixing tea pots have this pedigree they are consideredthe most collectible of tea pots.

We have supplied several images using natural sunlight--imagesthat show the substance,structure, decoration, and, importantly,the identifying marks of the artists/craftsmen on the base of the pot and the lid.This tea pot measures about 11 cm from the tip of the spout to the end of the handle.

Images of Yixing tea pots tell only half of the story. The other halfis the tactile appreciation of the shape and purple sandtexture of the pot that comes only from holding it in your hands.
