A beautiful work of quality folk art from circa 1940, carved by a master carver in Bali, Indonesia.
It is carved out of one piece of coromandel wood.
It depicts a mother bird with one wing spread while feeding her young on pray she has caught, in this case a mouse.The wood has a nice marking and a nice patina.
There\'s a piece broken from the wing and tail of the mother bird but does not distract the beauty of the statue. (picture 10&11)
Despite the damage, this statue is elegantly detailed, definitely a one of a kind creation.Measuring 14,96 inches in height, 5,11 inches wide and weighs 1465 grams.
