Small freighters, including those owned by the United Fruit Company, sailed to the tropics of the Caribbean, Central America, and South America, carrying tourists to mysterious, romantic lands on informal itineraries. Basic amenities were supplied with it being left to the passengers to devise ways to keep themselves entertained between ports. If you take your tropic moons without benefit of concerts, stage shows, surfing swimming pools, etc., and your trade winds in shorts and a sweater rather than gay cruise clothes, then this book is for you.
