This is a wonderful antique doll. She hails from the French market. She has the appearance of a Barrois or Jumeau but the entire head and shoulderplate lacks any markings. There is a penciled number inside the head. The leather body is tagged with a blue tag with a border and the number 4 in it. The head is a turned shoulderhead that was in pieces. The head and shoulderplate were reattached carefully but there is a separation of the bisque at the repair lines. Please refer to the photos for assessment. The doll\'s face was not, however, damaged. It is a wonderful pale bisque with full low cheeks that are brightly blushed. The mouth is closed. The eyebrows are thin swooshes. The rocker glass eyes are a deep dark blue and the rocking mechanism is original and functions. There are no painted lashes. The bisque lower arms are undamaged as well. The kid leather body is highly fitted with gussets and the leather extends through the feet. The left arm had a small rip at the elbow that has received repair and the arm was reattached to the body. The shoulderplate is held to the leather with nails. The doll is dressed with a half slip of cotton. The dress is a burgundy velvet with satin skirt. The collar and cuffs are trimmed with lace. There is no closure for the back of the dress. The satin is delicate and has a small rip at the back seam of the skirt. There are some pinpoint holes in the skirt as well. Despite the flaws, this doll has an exquisite face. She is a diminuitive size at only 15 inches tall. She is listed in another venue as well so, hurry, if you want her.
