An Exquisite Decorative Smooth Rim 7 3/4\" PLATE from Selb, Bavaria C.M. Hutschenreuther, Hand Painted by M.H. Poole RED CURRANTS w/GREEN LEAVES & GOLD Trim, imported by Burley & Tyrrell Chicago, Illinois, circa 1910-1931

DESCRIPTION: M.H. Poole was a very talented artist that painted a fetching spray of clusters of red currants with green leaves hanging from the brown vines. The subtle washes of pink, green and blue really make the currants pop out. The gold trim on the plate\'s rim adds to the character of the plate.

CONDITION: While this plate is classified as used, its condition is excellent. We find no defects or damage. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, rubbings, scratches, crazing or hairlines. There is no wear to the gold on the rim.

DIMENSIONS: This smooth rim decorative plate is 7 3/4\" in diameter and has a height of 1\".

HISTORY/MARKS:The Hutschenreuther porcelain story began when Karl Magnus Hutschenreuther, 1793-1845, discovered kaolin in northEastern Bavaria in1814 where he established his company. His son Lorenz managed the Hohenberg porcelain factory from 1845-1857. He founded his own Hutschenreuther Porcelain Company in Selb in 1856 which became highly successful and 113 years later absorbed his father’s company. All of the Hutschenreuther Companies were trend setters of high quality porcelain. Hutschenreuther became known for the love of detail, distinctive brilliance of color, and lustrous beauty shown through the decorating of the fine porcelain pieces. Themark on this plate is that of the Hutschenreuther Company of Selb, Bavaria Germany. www.mark4ceramics cites this mark as mark #1 which wasused 1910-1931. Both the “Favorite Bavaria” and “UNO Favorite Bavaria” were special export marks used by C.M. Hutschenreuther of Bavaria, Germany for Burley & Tyrrell of Chicago.
