Here is a very nice Beatrice Wood studiopottery flaring vessel. Hand thrown in her Ojai California studio, she was acontemporary of Gertrude and Otto Natzler, Rose Cabat, and Maija Grotell.She wasinvolved inthe Avant Garde movement in the United States, and founded “The Blind Man” magazinein New York City with French artist Marcel Duchamp and writer Henri-PierreRochein 1917.She had earlier studied art and theater inParis, and worked in New York as an actress. Wood was characterized asthe \"Mama of Dada\", and lived to be 105. Covered in agloss pale blue glaze with the red clay showing through, it measures5 3/8 inches high and 6 1/2 inches in diameter. It is ingreat condition with no chips, cracks, repairs, or firing flaws. SignedBeato on the bottom.
