Beautiful Antique Bronze 18th/19th C French Compote - (TRITON) Merman with Shell:

A very beautiful 18th - 19th C bronze compote - fashioned as the mythical figure of a Merman drinking from a large half clam shell..meant to hold candy bon bons or small treats.
The Triton (sea-god - please see: drinking from a funnel that extends from the bottom of the shell.
The piece stands 7.25\" (18.5cm) in height and is just shy of 5\" in width at the widest point of the base.
Originally the funnel was attached to the Tritan\'s lips. However due to the sculpture\'s age, the funnel has come away slightly..please see the last picture.
