Here For sale is a Beautiful Victorian Antique Hallmarked Silver Chain Driven Fusee Pair Cased Pocket Watch,Dated 1877. Comes With a Key. and a Nice Presentation Box.This lovely Englishsilver pair cased pocket watchNo. 1157 is LondonHallmarked \"B\" (1877) 0.925 silver,The matching cases arein excellent condition with very little pocket wear, the hinges and catches are very good so the covers open and close nicely,The white porcelain dial is very good, no dents or scratches, The original glass is very good with no chips or grazing.It has golden hands with black Roman numerals with outer minute track. The watch measures- inner case- 46 mm across and outer case 53 mm across.
The Makers Mark is--J.W. for-- James Widmer, Case Maker and Silversmith of-- Holborn Viaduct, London.It has a full plate, English chain driven fusee movement No 1157.The English lever escapement is running very well, runs full length of chain (most of the time) but is running quite a bit slow, (probably due to setting up)Please Note-- as this watch is 140 years old there is no guarantee on time keeping.
This is a lovely very interesting 140Year Old Collectors Watch -- NOT MEANT FOR GENERAL USE BUT TO BE CHERISHED. It is steeped in hidden social history, It has been through many wars. And is still running very well. (Please treat this watch with care and to wind up turn the key gently only in a anti clock wise direction).Comes With Key and a Nice Box
