Measurements are 4\" 7/8 diameter x 1\" 1/4 H.Set of 3- small plates, as seen on the photos. This is Japanese imari plate, collectible plate made of porcelain. The condition of the plates are very good, it has no cracks or chips. It shows normal age and wear, the plate is later EDO and it is very old. It has beautiful enamel with looks like a passion fruit on the center, with a nice ikebana flower on the sides. Just a beautiful piece to add to your collections.
Imari porcelain(伊万里焼) is the name for Japaneseporcelainwares made in the town ofArita, in the formerHizen Province, northwesternKyūshū.

\"Imari\" was simply the trans-shipment port for Arita wares. It was thekilnsat Arita which formed the heart of the Japaneseporcelainindustry.

Arita\'s kilns were set up in the 17th century, whenkaolinwas discovered in 1616 by the immigrant Korean potter,Yi Sam-pyeong(1579–1655). (He may also be known by the name, \"Kanage Sambei\".) Yi Sam-Pyeong, along with his extended family of 180 persons, left Korea on the offer of a privileged position in Japan. This decision was made after the occurrence of certaininstances of Japanese violence. After Yi Sam-Pyeong\'s discovery, his kilns began to produce revised Korean-style blue and white porcelains, known as \"Shoki-Imari\".
