Here is a beautiful 18th century violin up for sale. We believe, it hails from the Tyrolean region of Italy circa 1780 and is reminiscent to the Klotz school of violinmaking. The stark reality is that it is a STUNNING instrument and is a fine example of antiquity and craftsmanship. Unfortunately the maker is unknown to this date. It has a full rich deep tone that projects with clarity far across the auditorium to the back corners and feels powerful in ones hands. It is truly an artists tool and is in excellent condition. The instrument has seen 200 plus years and it shows. The front has evidence of finger ware near the fingerboard on the treble side due to all the high position playing, a sign of a well played instrument and one that has remarkable tone (otherwise why all the ware?). The violin is fully restored and the repairs are extensive. There are repaired cracks, grafted insets on the top plate near the left f hole, edge repair, rib graft, etc. It is a marvel to behold the love and care that has been put into this instrument over the years.
