This Beautifully designed Old German Black Forest Cuckoo clock was found at a recent private estate sale. (Please view the pictures below). This clock was carved depicting a old mountain Chalet complete with a sharply pitched roof. The clock is very impressive in size with a overall length of 18\" from top of two bird\'s wings to bottom of the pendulum and a width of 9 1/2\" at the widest point. The large Hand Painted Forest Blue Bird with a lovely Red Breast at the top is the eye catching focal point. She is depicted in flight with wings spread wide and has very colorful life like feathers and a Orange Breast high lighted in Red . She even has a glass inlaid eye. This bird is accented on both sides with colorful carved Maple leaves and tree branches. The center of the clock is framed with more of these lovely leaves and branches. This piece is carved from a single piece of wood. On both sides of the center front are two more carved and hand painted Birds. They also have glass eyes. The face of the clock is numbered in Roman numerals and the hands are very decorative . The face is marked \"Germany\" at the bottom. The upper peak of the front has a little hinged wooden Green door. This door will open on the half hour and hour and the Cuckoo bird will appear. As he bobs up and down, He will coo coo once on the half hour and as many times needed for the hour of the day , on the hour mark.There is also a musical chime that sounds in the background each time he coo coos. The movement is of the finest German quality and marked Germany. Made from solid Brass and powered by two metal Pine cone designed weights that hang on brass chains. The movement is regulated by a carved and hand painted wooden Leaf pendulum that swings back and forth beneath the clock. This clock is in very good condition and also runs great .
