Fully Restored Case — Completely Overhauled Movement! The ClockFor sale is a Seth Thomas wood case clock with a black and \"Green Marble\"Adamantine finish. It features distinctive bronze gold pilasters, matching lion ornaments and feet. Seth Thomas made this clock for the Larkin Soap Company back in the late 1800\'s to early 1900\'s. This clock was known in the Larkin Soap Catalog as the #722. To get this clock from the Larkin Soap Company, you would have to redeem so many coupons, or buy an assortment of soaps that they offered as their Great Combination Box (approximately $10 worth of soap: $281 adjusted for inflation in 2017) to acquire this clock. There is a visible date code on the bottom of this clock\'s case, we believeit to read and translate to April of 1902. Everything appears to be original except the key andthe adjustable pendulum bob which we\'ve suppliedto prepare this clock for its new owner.THE MATERIALS AND CONDITION OF THE CASE:The measurements of the case are16 1/4\" wide by 6 1/2\" deep by 10 3/4\" high. The covering on the case is called adamantine which is a celluloid veneer, glued to the pine wood case. Adamantine veneer was a process patented by Seth Thomas. The material was made in black and white, and in colored patterns such as marble, onyx and a variety of wood grains such as red mahogany. The clock has been restored to very good overall condition. The case is ingood condition. As seen in the photos there is one smallchip/loss in the adamantine finish. The area has been restored with matching acrylic paint andsealed with polyurethane (over the paint only). While there are some other little dents and scratches in this antique, theloss shownwas the most significant and you from the before and after photo, it is very difficult to see.

The metal ornaments were removedfrom the case and old gold spray paint thatsome previous owner had applied wasstripped to restorethe original bronze colored finish. TheAdamantinewas thoroughly cleaned and polished. Several coats of high quality paste wax were applied to fully bring out the shine and color.

The bezel\'s hinge is nice and tight with no sagging, and it closes with a snap. The scrolls around the bezel and along the bottom front of the casewere restored and are well defined withsharp borders of aged gold/bronze color. Please note that there is an internal chip in the bezel glass. There is no missing glass and the area looks to be stable. It\'s difficult to see when looking directly at the clock in normal light. Please see all photos. The metal ornaments, gilt dial and bezel have been cleaned with non abrasive cleaners. They all appear to have their original factory finish.
THE CONDITION OF THE MOVEMENT:

The movement in the clock appears tothe appropriate andoriginal 8-day Seth Thomas No. 89\" time and strikemovement. It counts the hour on a cathedral gong. On the half hour it strikes once on a cup bell. The movement has been completely overhauled and is in excellent working condition. It was disassembled, cleaned, repaired, repivoted andrebushed where needed. The missing regulation arbor assembly was restored and is fully functional. The TimeMainspringis anew, high-quality steelreplacement. The StrikeMainspring was cleaned, inspected and found to bein acceptable condition. It was lubricated and re-used.The movement was reassembled and properlylubricated using high quality synthetic clock oils and grease. The leather for the gong striking hammer was replaced with new leather and the strike now has a nice rich, softsound.
