Check out this very unusual and pretty vintage ball, a bird a nesting ornament! 2 1/2\" ball, with 1/2\" red dangler ball. We think this ornament is vintage 1960s in the style of the old old; but we\'re not experts so let the market decide. It\'s definitely in the style of early ornaments with zigzag wire embellishments. The zigzag bent wire is all intact and it\'s very rare to see that. Very fancy! the gold metal collar of heart shaped \"leaves\" under sawtooth ring: definitely metal, not paper. ALL the zigzag bent wire is continuous and unbroken even the two wires over the bird\'s back and the 8 wires seen encircling the ball vertically are in perfect condition so it cannot be old, old, in our opinion. A beauty nevertheless: very unusal and fancy: the handle and bale ring at the \"equator\' of the ball are wrapped in gold and silver \"tinsel\" with artificial holly leaves with a red berry on each. Nest is made of the same gold tone tinsel material. Bird is satinized glass, with ruby glass beak, the body is silver with wings are of black and irridescent green. Even the cap on the bottom is fancy with little embossed hearts. That is the feature that makes us think 60-70s at the earliest, made to look old, old. In any event, a very fancy and special bird on nest piece. The tail should straighten up over time.
