This isa beautifulantique French full copper\'Daubière\' with its lid,from ca. 1850, hammered, tinning good, dovetailed on one side and underneath, stamped \'L.G.\" on the Daubière and on the lid, measuring 14\" long (18\" totallong with handles) x 7.75 width x 9.75 total high with lid.

Daubière (also named braisière) is the pan where you prepare the stew, it is used to cook very gently. In large chimneys, they put the daubière over ashes on foot wrought iron. The pan with vertical sides, is covered tightly. This lid has a very high ledge, allowing to place the coals or hot water to activate the cooking smothered.
