You are offerding on a beautiful circa 1920s 148 piece Mah Jong set that comes in a Rosewood Case trimmed with brass border and handles. It has a front door (with markings I can\'t identify) that slides up to reveal the drawers that contain the tiles. The appear to made of either Bakelite or bone(???) and are backed with bamboo. My best guess would be bone since they aren\'t as yellow or butterscotch color Bakelite tends to be.
I\'m not sure how to identify them but they are older. The sticks are also old and uneven and seem to made out of a yellowing bone material (see photos 9 & 10) also but I\'m not sure what it is. There two sets of dice which are not uniform so I can\'t tell which ones are original along with four chip like markers which are made of a plastic like substance.Condition Issues:The box has a few splits in the wood that give the piece extra character but also show the age of the overall item. Many of these boxes split due to the Rosewood being used when it was green (not dried for the proper amount time), and it commonly splits when it dried when the thinner strips are made and used.

The brass handles have some scuffs on them but nothing that would take away from the aesthetics of the piece. Some of the tiles have imperfections and yellowing too but nothing out of the ordinary for a piece of its age.Some of the tiles show their age and use which have left them imperfect but they still look classic. A couple have some \"chips\" that appear to be from the imperfection of the bone material they were carved from. None of these imperfections keep the set from being playable or visually pleasing but I wanted to make them known. This would be a great addition to any Mah Jong player or anyone who would like a fine display piece for decoration in their office or home. If you know what the inscription on the front of box says, let me know.
