We are listing this spectacularly beautiful exceptionally rarely seen circa 1800 English Georgian amethyst and clear roemer wine glass. Although it is unmarked (true of almost all old glass pieces), the unique color and style of this piece indicates it was made in England around 1800. The piece\'s amethyst and clear color alone is extremely rare, and its fancy decorative touches make it even more exceptional (I have been told that only a handful - perhaps four - of these particular glasses exist). This glass was formerly in the (Wing Commander) Ronald Thomas collection - one of the largest and best collections of English glass ever amassed, which ultimately went to several museums and a huge sale at the renowned Bonhams sale house. The glass has a wonderful amethyst hammer molded cup bowl set on a clear closed stem decorated with amethyst and clear milled collars and amethyst raspberry prunts, ending in a trailed conical foot (with a rough pontil). It is over 4 inches tall, over 2.5 inches at its widest point, extremely rarely colored and decorated, it makes a spectacular display piece, and it is in very good condition. An exceptionally rare and quite beautiful piece of Georgian glass (from a major collection) which was hand made by a true artisan - you will not find another one like it.
