This is an early edition of BEN-HUR: A TALE OF THE CHRIST by Lew Wallace published byRichard Edward Kingof London. I am having trouble finding another like this online but believe the publication is early, perhaps circa 1880. The dedication is the early \"To the wife of my youth.\" In later publications, the dedication read,\"To the wife of my youth who still aofferes with me.\" This is quite the beautiful book with the floral and guilt cover and spine, and guilted page edges.
The book is in good shape. The main issue is the first page is missing as shown resulting in the cover being partly detached from the spine. It is less with the rear cover but is still an issue. Pages 231 to 234 are detached from the spine but are in fine shape
There is light smudging to the front cover and more on the rear. Every page has toning, more evident along the edges.
The book measures 5.75 x 8 1/8 inches.
