This beautiful Amethyst geode is from the country of Uruguay and ranges in medium to dark shades of purple with mixed size druzy crystal points. The geode weighs 3 lbs and is approximately 5\" tall, 4¼\" wide, and sits up to 2½\" deep. This geode has polished edges, a flat cut base, and stands freely on its own, making it ideal for display on a shelf, desk, mantle or more. The stone features a great mix ofamethyst crystals with an agate rim!The stone also features a couple thin areas of Calcite that developed on some of the amethyst crystals. There is a small natural chip in the rim. This a special geode that was mined out of solid Basalt, which is the gray stone on the back of the piece. Pictures show the amethyst in two different kinds of indoor lighting conditions.
Amethyst is in the same family of gemstones as citrine and quartz, and is mined in sizes from small gemstones up to the large cathedral church. A special Amethyst information card is also included with this geode. Would make a wonderful addition to a healing gems collection, as a gift, or resell for a profit.
