**Antique Merrythought Mohair Cat Hudson\'s Bay Pajama Bag Rare 1930s 30s Big Large Vintage Stuffed Toy Teddy Bear Friend Stuffed Animal**

This big, wonderful mohair toy cat is even larger than a real kitty! Made by by the well-known British teddy bear and plush toy company Merrythought (circa 1930s), the cat still has his original company label, along with a woven tag from the retailer, the Hudson\'s Bay Company. This handsome cat is the better part of a century old, but he has been very well taken care of. His luxurious cream-colored mohair fur still covers his whole body, and is clean and shiny. He has his original big blue glass eyes and long whiskers, and a dapper red ribbon bow around his neck.

This clever toy doubles as a pajama bag for children\'s sleepovers; a sturdy metal zipper runs down the middle of the cat\'s belly, and inside is a space inside where the owner can stuff his or her jammies for safekeeping. The inner pocket is lined with lovely peach-pink quilted satin fabric. (I stuffed the pocket with foam before I took my photos for the listing - the body looks a little \"deflated\" if there isn\'t something inside to fill up the space.) The head, legs, and hindquarters feel like they are firmly stuffed with wood wool.

This wonderful historical toy will be one of the gems of your collection. It has so much character!

The length of the tail is about another 14 inches. He is a little under 8 inches tall at his tallest point. The toy is relatively lightweight because of the empty area in his middle where the pajamas go. {{Condition}}

This cat is in excellent condition for its age, commensurate with what my photos show. As I mentioned above, the mohair fur is nice and clean, with no odors. The overall coverage is very good - there are no bald spots. The fabric beneath the fur is in good strong shape. The zipper works great.

The satin lining fabric inside the pajama pocket is in nice condition. As you can see in my photos, there is a water spot on the satin. If desired, it looks as if it should be possible to wash out (just be careful not to get the wood stuffing wet).The cat\'s nose is painted on, and there is a slight separation of the fabric at the edge of the paint (see my closeup photo). This is not obvious unless you\'re searching for flaws (as I was), and the area still feels stable, not fragile. The ears are lined with cream-colored velveteen and the lining fabric has slight surface dinginess.
