Norman Rockwell\'s THE TOY MAKER

Being offered on this sale is beautiful modern art figurine made by Bing & Grøndahl of Copenhagen, Denmark. This is B&G Figurine # 4204. It is called ‘Three Geese’. It features adorable bird family. They are shown walking together. They are made in stylicized shape. They are almost all white with exception of grey sides. This looks splendid. Ceramicist and sculptor Alma Agnethe Jørgensen (b. 1918) designed this figurine. She was working for Bing & Grondahl during 1967 - 1976. Her series of modern art figurines of animals and birds remains the most collectible. This figurine carries her personal sign or signature incised on the backside of one bird.

Bing & Grondahl (B&G) was founded in 1853 and existed until 1987, when Royal Copenhagen merged with Bing and Grondahl. B & G, Bing & Grondahl refer to the founders: Fred. Vilh. Grøndahl (1819-1856), technical director; the brothers M.H. Bing (1819 - 1883) and J.H. Bing (1811 -1896) as economical directors. This figurine is marked with three towers in green. This hallmark comes from the City Coat of Arms of Copenhagen. ‘B&G’ printed below the tower in green and ‘Denmark’ identify production of 1970 -1983.

Figurine measures about 6” x 3” and stands 3 ½” tall. Condition is very good with no chips or cracks found. Colors are bright and vibrant. There is something looking like a manufacturing flake under the glaze at the very tip of the last tail. It is not a chip or fleabite, and once again it is under the glaze. This item displays very well. We just feel right to mention this small imperfection. Please look at the pictures to find out more about this piece.
