Hello and welcome to this sale.Here today is a fantastic example of what happens when a great designer and a quality manufacturer come together to create beautiful decorative items. The plate for sale is the fifth (and in my opinion the best) plate from the Aladin and the Magic Lamp series. Wiinblad often took inspiration from classic folk tales such as 1001 Nights. It really is an exceptional piece loaded up with 24 karat gold gilding showing the genie offering Aladin the secrets of the magic garden. In perfect condition is measures about 15cm (6\") across. These plates do come with their own wall hanger moulded in, but I will include a little plate stand for free just in case you don\'t trust a nail in the wall with something so beautifulBjorn Wiinblad was a famous designer from Denmark whose work became famous through exhibitions in the United States and later Japan, Australia and Canada. Wiinblad designed for many mediums including fabric, tapestry and furniture with pieces featuring in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the National Museum in Stockholm.However, he is perhaps most famous for the incredibly detailed and highly decorated porcelain pieces he designed for Rosenthal Porcelain in the 1970\'s and 1980\'s, many of which were executed by the Studio Line section which only the most talented of decorators could work for. Rosenthal has a history of exquisite porcelain manufacture stretching back well over 125 years and has long been known for utilising the top designers of the time for their premier Studio Line pieces.This is one of many pieces of Bjorn Wiinblad I have listed (both from Rosenthal and Nymolle) so please take the time to look at my other items as you may find something else to tickle your fancy!
