Every surgeon would have a good, serviceable lancet like this. He would take the blade to lance a painful boil, a infected wound or to carefully cut a vein for bleeding. This would be an extremely important tool for 18th c Revolutionary War medicine and surgery. This type of lancet was thought to be Thomas Jefferson\'s favorite type.
Description:This sale is for nice, shiny brand new brass spring-loaded lancet 18th c. museum reproduction. Sometimes called a scarificator it is beautifully and authentically crafted. It fits safely into the the leather covered case. Lancet measures 2 1/2 inches. The case measures 4 1/2 inches. Fully operable but be careful! The blade is razor sharp. To cock - use thumb & forefinger to pull back blade & cocking lever at same time. That sets the blade. Then touch the brass trigger on the side to release the blade.
Great for Colonial French & Indian Revolutionary War War of 1812 Mexican War living history displays and reenactments. Civilian or military or pirate impressions.
