For your consideration : 1 used Vintage Boatswain Whistle approx.5 1/2\" long sterling silver with lots of patina ...It has a few minor dents and dings from carrying and use. It works Great.My neighbor was in Germany during world war II and had many interesting stories to tell. I don\'t remember how long he had or carried this whistle with him but I remember him saying he had it for many years and it came in handy on many occasions.. I had known him over 20 years and can remember later in his life he had cancer and had his voice box removed. He passed away at 80 years old.He was an avid fisherman and hunter and would always carry this whistle with him after his throat surgery because he couldn\'t talk it was his way of \"communicating\" while on the lake or in the woods. It gave him a sense of security to know that if he needed help that someone would hear him. When we deer hunted together I always knew where he was by his blowing this whistle. He had many different \"codes\" that he would whistle out but I have to admit I never mastered all of them and we shared many talks about that !
