Wonderfully cast brass sheep and staff dating from circa 1870
Stitched onto a length of silk ribbon, the badge must have an agricultural significance but it is unmarked
and the way the ribbon is arranged, with tassels at each end, the sash with insignia is designed to be worn
It may represent some significance within the Masonic orders?
Terrific aged patina and modelling, the sheep or lamb has a traditional appearance and a notably long bushy tail
Sourced in the North of England, it could be modelled on a hill sheep judging by coat and long face
The staff is crooked, not immediately religious in meaning, but a super collectible
that displays beautifully
Sheep is 6cm wide and to include staff, 5.5cm tall (2.25\" and 2\" tall)
Slightly three dimensional, the brass has not been polished
Some snags and rust storage marks to the ribbon
