This tool is no longer made or sold by BCTW, though like other out-of-production tools this model could one day be resurrected.This is a handsome and handy tool, but I\'ve never used it much because it was \"too nice.\" I have cherished it, but out of fear of marring or otherwise damaging it, it sat unused in my tool cabinet. Which is why I\'m now selling it: though I\'ll likely never have one again, I need to raise some money and I\'m selling tools that I don\'t utterly require, especially those that never get used. The same goes for the other Bridge City tools I\'m now selling, an MG-3 marking gauge, an SS-DT dovetail gauge, and a DS-6 double squareThe SS-2X4, because of its brass and rosewood construction, is notably heavy for its small size, so it feels well in your hands. Does it work better than other saddle squares, is it \"indispensable,\" as the advertising copy below suggests? No, but let\'s be honest with ourselves. This is about tool snobbery, and function is neither the raison d\'etre nor the primary appeal of these tools. On the other hand, beautifully made tools (along with other beautifully made things) can inspire one to become more relentless in the pursuit of perfection. But a tool--even a beautiful tool--should be used, and if I\'m not going to use it then I surely ought to get rid of it.I apologize for the quality of the photos. I have done my best to provide close shots, in sharp focus, that depict the DS-6 in good detail. Because the rosewood is dark and the brass reflects light, achieving a shot that conveyed the whole range of colors without losing detail at the lightest and darkest ends proved difficult. As you can see I tried shooting against different backgrounds and under different light, and hopefully I\'ve captured, somewhat, the beauty of the rosewood and brass. I think the photos do depict in detail the superb condition of the tool.The SS-2X4 does NOT come with any box or papers.
