However, these have been modified for use in WW2 with the Enfield #4 Spike Bayonet.
An extra row of stitching has been added reducing the size of the loop into which the bayonet fits. This is an unusual modification but a way of keeping obsolete pattern equipment in use for a struggling British Army.
