Up for sale are these two BUCK ROGERS items - the 1st Science Fiction hero in the USA! This is the BUCK ROGERSXZ-38 DISINTEGRATOR PISTOL - COPPER VERSION - made by Daisy in 1935. Also, a BUCK ROGERS BRASS SOLAR SCOUTS BADGE from 1936. Both of these come displayed beautifully in a glass-enclosed case. Inside the case are two brass nameplates with information on both items. (If preferred, the pistol and badge can easily be removed from the case).

This XZ-38 Disintegrator Pistol is the original and first version of the gun released in 1935 - and should not to be confused with the nearly identical \"Atomic Pistol\" which came 11 years later (although I realize I put the \"atomic\" in my sale listing - but only so others might find this sale easier).

The pistol is in working condition, the trigger works great and there is a loud \"POP\". There is no flint or spark, however. I think you could probably replace the flint but I\'ve never tried.. Also - the screw on top is a replacement and not original. The one side of the pistol is near perfect with an excellent copper finish. The other side does show some wear and oxidation. It is certainly not bad at all and that is the side I chose to display since that is the side with the information stamped on it. This is not painted copper but instead ismade of pressed steel with a copper plated finish. The Solar Scout Badge is made ofbrass and in terrific condition.

I had the brass nameplates made, and I mounted the XZ-38 DISINTEGRATOR PISTOL with two plastic coated wires and the SOLAR SCOUTS BRASS BADGE with one plastic coated wire. None of these wires has damaged these items.If someone preferred to do so, both of these items can easily be taken out of the case. In addition, without too much effort, the pistol could be flipped over in the display case, the badge moved to the other side, and the nameplates switched, if you wanted to instead use the case to display the other side of the pistol. The nameplates are screwed into the wooden back of the case. Of note here: I created this display case myself, and because I am not a professional - the backside of the display case does not look as smooth. But, from the front it looks fantastic. Also, there is a wire on the back of the caseto use to hang it from a wall (I did using two hooks), or if you prefer the case is easily deep enough to set on a desk or other type of flat surface.
