What a beautiful horn! Dating from c.1936 during the heyday of band instrument manufacture in the USA. This Buescher Aristocrat Series I alto saxophone serial number 273496 has the slant signature engraving. Some players believe these are identical in design to the famed \"Big B\" and \"Buescher 400\'s\" which followed later. It does have a heavy bead around the bell which anticipates the nickel ring on the Buescher 400. This beautiful saxophone was updated recently with regular pads (not snap-ins) but still has the original Norton screw-in springs. Pads look relatively new, perhaps a few years old. We just cleaned and adjusted this lovely vintage saxophone and she plays with a warm and colorful tone. No wonder that these are so highly sought after by jazz musicians world-wide.
