Burmese Sacrificial Container
Description:Lacquer container in the shape of a ciborium that was used by rich Burmesan people in sacrificial rituals (offerings were usually gems and fine fabrics)This round container consists of three parts with a high base, an inlay and the cover. It is made of dense layers of bamboo strips.The outside is covered with numerous layers of lacquer, the last one being gold-lacquer. This inside consisty of two layers coated with black and red lacquer.Rich voluted decoration with small mirrors and glass-pearls.There is a small, local fire damage on the base and the lacquer shows traces of age and use.Provenience:Galerie de l\'Octroi, Quievrain, Belgiumbought by a private collector who got the expertise from the University of Brussels (Febr. 2nd 1980) we enclose to the containerPayment:We prefer paypal payment, but we accept nearly every payment method.
