About George Begay: He comes from a well-known silversmith family, and is nephew of Roland Begay, a pioneer Navajo jewelry artist. George lived in Jones Ranch, NM. He produced a large number of pieces in the 1960s and 1970s.
This ring comes from my personal collection. I have collected Southwestern jewelry since the 1970\'s. I\'ve had this ring for quite a long time. The onyx stone is set on a foundation of heavy sterling silver. The band is also substantial This ring has the \"GB\" hallmark, identified as George Begay in \"TheHallmarks of the Southwest\" book by Barton Wright. It also has a \"sterling\" stamp inside the band (see photos). I have hand polished this ring with a soft clothto a brilliant shine. Thatis the beauty of sterling silver, it will become dark and can be polished back to a brilliantshine time after time. Never out of style, Southwest jewelry is an investment in enjoyment to last a lifetime.
