This listing is for a Victorian mahogany-cased \"Whittington\" travelling chess set, probably made by Jaques of London, circa 1890. Inlaid interior board with red and white plastic pieces that are not original to the set. It should be noted that the replacement pegs fit loosely and do not remain in position when the game is closed. Closed box measures 7 1/8 inches by 3 ½ inches by 2 5/8 inches high; fully opened it measures 12\" x 6\". This set is in gently used vintage condition with minimal wear to the box.
