Late 19th/early 20th century muffineer or sugar caster in the antique style bearing Hanau Pseudo hallmarks. Unusual form with deep relief featuring cherubs at play. Removable cap, which is designed to lock into place with rotation (see photo).

SIZE: About 6 1/4\" tall and about 2 3/8\" at widest point. Weighs approximately 152.4 grams - not pure silver.

MARKS: On side of bottom rim as shown in photo. The mark was recorded by Scheffler as Georg Roth, Hanau (1891-1919), but was later attributed by some experts (not all) to Wolf & Knell, Hanau (founded 1887, merged in 1914 with Gebruder Glaser). Source of attribution to Wolf & Knell: 925-1000.com section on Hanau Pseudo marks (see photo). Others on SMP Silver Forum continue to follow Scheffler and attributed this mark to Georg Roth.

MATERIAL: Hanau silver alloy, likely approximately 800 purity. As you know, purity was not a priority in Hanau at that time and purity ranged from about 700-835. Some items are actually very very thick silverplating over a base metal. The only way to determined silver content with 100% certainty would require damaging the piece so it has not been testing. Sell \"as is\" for its decorative value with no guarantee of exact silver content.

CONDITION: Antique item. No problems. Just a few very minor irregularities in the making. Some tarnish, mainly in deep recesses.
