This listing is for a very handsome pair of early circa 1880 Tiffany Sterling silver salt and pepper shakers. Each measures just over 3 3/8 inches or 8.5 cm high.
Both have as their main decoration pair of rams heads joined by swags of leaves. The bottom of one shaker has engraved elongated leaves sitting above a fancy pad foot. The other has engraved stars and elongated points sitting above a fancy pad foot. Note the top of the shakers have four small roundels engraved with an open flower. The decoration is much in keeping with the aesthetic designs so popular at the time.
Both are marked on the bottom "5604 TIFFANY & CO STERLING SILVER 923". In the middle of that stamp is the "M for EdwardMoore the director of Tiffany from 1873 through 1891. They weigh a total of 87 grams and are in excellent condition.
