In about 1986, while selling at an Antique Show at Fair Park in Dallas, I was approached by a customer asking if I\'d be interested in buying remaining inventory and display pieces from a closed Mercantile west of Fort Worth. The store was opened in the days of the cattle barons in North and West Texas following the Civil War. It\'s the dream of antiques dealers everywhere to have this opportunity. THIS CHARMING PAIR OF ANKLE HIGH BOOTS TURNED OUT TO BE PART OF THAT OPPORTUNITY. The store closed before WWII, the accumulation of inventory and display pieces dated from the start date to the 1930\'s. This c1890 to 1910 pair of shoes s utilitarian yet lovely in its way, worn in the day when EVERYONE WORE ONE PAIR WITH EVERYTHING UNTIL THE PAIR WEARS OUT. Authentic. Measurements (approx): 9\" in Length, 6\" tall at heel, 3\" at widest point of sole. Perfect for display, photography or use. I would like to note that this pair was pristine when last packed away in 2002. When the storage carton was opened today, evidence of more than one season of squirrels nesting there, causing some light damage to the pair was noted. Please review the photographs to see detail. The size may possibly be determined with the placement of the ruler. I\'m selling the pair as I found them except for a gentle wipe down. The new owner will be able to use a fine paint brush or Q-tip and touch up the shoes. I\'m not removing the paper stuffing, there will be interesting info printed into the lining, I\'m sure. THE BRAND: STAMPED ON THE BOTTOM OF BOTH SHOES IS the \"Roberts Johnson & Rand Shoe Co St Louis.\" The initials, each in the points of a star are found imprinted on the heel bottom. The price tag from 2002 marked $85 is still on the pair. This old pair with fragile parts, packing and shipping should be minimized. It should be \"as is\" due to the fragility. Please be confident of your offer or purchase. Note: the shoe stand is a prop that will be listed at a later date. It is part of a group of fabulous matching pieces from the Mercantile acquisition. 2nd NOTE: theres virtually no difference in Priority and economy rate at this package size and weight. A VERY NICE ANTIQUE SHOE FIND!!
