c1927 Fab Georg Jensen Sterling Silver 6pc Cosmos Tea Set w/ Tray

Presented is a wonderful Georg Jensen sterling silver 6 piece tea set, dating to around 1927. The set is done in the elegant Cosmos pattern, featuring a hand hammered finish and beautifully carved wooden handles. This pattern was designed by Johan Rohde, and the teapot even has his initial mark on the underside. The pieces all have a marriage type monogram of P over H T on the underside, and the hot water kettle and tray have a full presentation of \' HELEN MESERVE AND RICHARD TOWNLEY PATON DECEMBER 24TH 1927.\' The burner is not original, it is a Georgian English sterling silver burner, but it fits the burner stand and matches very nicely.

The set consists of:

Teapot-- 8 inches tall, 6 inches from handle to spout. Capacity of 5 cups (40 fluid ounces/1.18 liters)
Coffee pot--9 1/8 inches tall. Capacity of 6 cups (48 fluid ounces/1.41 liters)
Kettle-on-stand-- 13 inches tallon kettle, 9 inches alone. Capacity of 10 1/2 cups (84 fluid ounces/2.48 liters)
Sugar bowl--4 inches tall, 4 1/4 inches in diameter.
Creamer--4 3/8 inches tall.
Tray-- 22 3/4 by 16 1/4 inches. Useable surface area 19 3/4 by 13 1/2 inches.

The set is in great overall condition. There are a couple of minor dings here and there, but nothing of any significance in our opinion. The handles are snug and securely mounted, with no chips or splits. The tension lids seat well in the mouths of the pieces that have lids. There are no splits, no leaks, no monogram removals, and no repairs.

Each piece, except the burner and stand, is stamped with the Georg Jensen maker\'s mark as well as sterling and Denmark, and the number 45. The teapot also has the specific designer\'s mark for Johan Rohde. The stand is marked sterling and Denmark on the side of the base. The burner is hallmarked on the underside with the lion passant for sterling silver, the leopard\'s head crowned for the city of London, the date letter e for 1780, and a partially obscured maker\'s mark starting with G.

The total weight for the set is 5256 grams or 185 regular ounces.
