This work explores the adventures of hundreds who have explored the pyramids since the time of the Greek historian Herodotus.

The note to the flyleaf explains \'These stories range from high drama to high comedy\'.

This work is undated, but the dustwrapper notes publisher as Robert Hale. Robert Hale published copies were in 1956 as stated to Copac.

This edition is a special \'Scientific Book Club\' publication. As noted to the verso of title page \'for this special edition all the illustrations will be found between pages 98 and 99 and not as specified in text.\'

Leonard Cottrell was a British author and journalist. The majority of his works were popularisations of the archaeology of ancient Egypt. CONDITION

In a full cloth binding and held in original dustwrapper. Externally, generally smart with bumping to the head and tail of spine as well as some fading. Minor bumping to the extremities. Dustwrapper is rubbed to the head and tail of spine and extremities. Tape repairs to the top and bottom edge of wrap to prevent further chipping. Rubbing to joints and sunning to spine. Marks to wraps. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are slightly age toned to edges with offsetting to the endpapers. The odd spot throughout. Overall: VERY GOOD INDEED with a GOOD ONLY dustwrapper.
