Very Nice Civil War Period CDV Photograph
This photograph is in 1865, just post the End of the Civil War
Portrait of Captain Alvah S. Stone of the 57th Ohio Volunteer Infantry
Alvah is a well known Captain, having lead his men in numerous battles curing the war
He is also well known because of the in-depths accounts he wrote during the war that survived, including about the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain.
He also kept a diary during his time as a captive POW, this diary is held in the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Library & Museum.

This CDV was taken in Galion, Ohio just after Skilton had mustered out of the Army and returned home.
The photograph was taken by F.B. Zay, and has the period 2-cent orange perforated U.S. Inter.Rev. Tax Stamp affixed to the back (simple X cancel)
Standard size CDV, measures approx. 2-3/8\" x 3-15/16\"

Good overall Condition. Light staining on the image and card along with some light edge wear from storage/age. Original Tax stamp remains strongly affixed to the back with minor wear.
