I am pleased to be offering this beautiful all original SHIP\'S BELL CLOCK & BAROMETER Desk Set from the CHELSEA CLOCK COMPANY of Chelsea, Mass. The clock base fitting is etched with the Serial Number of 151711. As indicated by the (included) Certificate of Origin from the Chelsea Company, this clock was shipped from their factory on March 28, 1923 to the George B. Carpenter Company of Chicago Illinois. The Carpenter Company were well known marine outfitters, and the clock would have been merchandised in their popular catalogs of that era.
Included is the original key. I have owned this set for 30 years, but I have not attempted to wind the clock in at least 20 years. At that point, the ship\'s bell/chime sounded on schedule, and the clock kept proper time, however I cannot warrant its\' current state of operation. I have never attempted to polish the brass, but there appears to be residue of polish or cleaner in a few small crevices. The faces would be beautiful if re-silvered, and I am sure that the brass would polish up nicely with proper restoration. Sold in \"as is\" condition, with the assurance that the set is equipped with all original parts.
