Chinese Famille Verte Warrior Charger Plate Kangxi Period 17th 18th Century:
Kasper Tiggeloven Antiques
A very nice famille verte charger dating from the Kangxi period (1662-1722). The charger, a nice 37 cm in diameter, shows a scene of warriors in battle. I do not know which battle this scene refers to, but somebody out there must know. The charger is very nicely painted, in typical Kangxi famille verte style. This piece (as well as the other Chinese pieces listed) come from a private collector. Some of the pieces still have their catalog sticker on the bottom (in this case no 93). Other pieces of this collection will also be listed.
The charger is 37 cm in diameter and 5.5 cm in height. The piece is marked with an underglaze blue artimisia leaf within a double ring. It is also marked with the name Taylor engraved in the glaze done around 1800 I think. The piece has been restored in the past. There are three chips glued back (some repainting, but the original should be underneath), and the piece has a few hairlines and chips on the rim. There are remnants of the old restauration on the back, which should be easily removable.
