Description....For sale we have here a Chinese celadon color soapstone carving being of a rooster on top of a hollowed out and pierced openwork weaved basket containing new born chicks along with a hen and nicely done flowers with stonework displayed on a light brown stone stand. This carving was produced in China during the Republic period sometime around the c1930s to 40s for the export market. The details and craftsmanship are really quite good having beautifully done multi-level flower heads and a impressive woven basket that several new born chicks have been worked from the inside with superbly done pierced basket weaving as well as shaped leaves, stems and feathers to the chickens with a rough style rockery stand.
Condition...Excellent with no chips, cracks, losses or problems of any sort. A very nice clean carving.
