ASPARAGUS SCISSOR TONGS

A rare and super set of four large antique individual silver plated scissor action asparagus tongs by Christofle, the most famous of French silversmiths.

The pieces have pretty asparagus tips and nouveau motifs in relief to the tips with a grip section to the reverse as can be seen in the images. To the upper, thread decorated thumb plates also sport a neat and stylish bar of linear decoration. The pieces are sprung for ease of use.

They are in very good and gleaming condition apart from two small squiggles of wear to one piece as illustrated in the image below. The spring to one tong is weaker than the rest but is still fit for purpose.
