An original rare albumen photograph of Civil War Reconstruction era Boston measuring approximately 6 1/2 x 8 inches on its original backing measuring approximately 10 x 12 inches. Photograph is estimated to the early to mid 1870s. The large American Flag can be partly seen with what appears to be four rows of stars. See Boston Directory analysis below which shows the businesses in this photo existed between 1872 - 1875. If you headed north on Commercial street you\'d bump into Quincy Market in a short 2 block walk and a left west would take you to Faneuil Hall; heading northeast (more east than north) will shortly take you to the Atlantic Ocean. This photo is a treat and an adventure with a 10x loupe or zoom of the high resolution image. It reminds me of some of those killer daguerreotypes like the one owned by the Eastman House.
