This excavatedconfederate block I button was excavated from the front yard of Sergeant ConradSmith’s home near Gore, Virginia. He served in Company B, 2nd Virginia Infantry Regiment from1861 to 1865. It is in uncleaned, asfound, very good excavated condition with a nice brown patina & still hasthe shank on the back.It was bought by the famous collector JamesAnderson who had it on display in the Fort Hell Museum it Petersburg, Virginiaduring the Civil War Centennial of 1961 to 1965. It comes with a Fort Hell Museumletter & a certificate of historical accuracy. Seehis Mississippi saber bayonet with scabbard on white buff leather belt &frog taken from Harpers Ferry Armory on April 19, 1861 listed separately
