This charming small plate from France was made by CREIL ET MONTEREAU and is stamped in red on the back with the words CREIL ET MONTEREAU TERRE DE FER FRANCE. It depicts two small boys and an older couple sitting at the seashore and watching a sailboat and a steamship pass by. The man,who is smoking a pipe, appears to be a fisherman and the woman, who is knitting something, appears to be in a Breton costume. Under the picture which is in white and grey are the words VOILA LA MORT DES VOILIERS - THERE\'S THE DEATH OF THE SAILBOATS. Above the picture you will see the words GRANDES DECOUVERTES DU SIECLE- GREAT DISCOVERIES OF THE CENTURY. The plate which is in excellent vintage condition has a border of red leaves and vines and measures 6 1/2 inches in diameter. This is plate Number 2 in a series and will appeal to a collector.
