CA. 1900 \"FREAK\" 3 LEGGED STANDING MAN W/CAT GERMAN BISQUE FAIRING VASE PERFECT :
$24.00

Over the course of several decades handling antiques I have found 4 examples of this bisque figure, only 2 in mint condition, including this piece. It represents a 3 legged man, the subject of side shows and carnivals...\"freak shows\". This gentleman has one leg protruding from his right buttocks, the pants made especially to accommodate this feature. There is a cat on the ground beneath his raised left leg, making the image even more interesting. The choice of color, including the gilded buttons on his white shirt, are typical of German work, ca. 1900. There is no damage to this piece, no nicks or chips or cracks or repairs. It stands about 5 1/8\" H by 4\" W, and the depth of the vase behind him is about 2 3/4\". This figure is probably based upon the world famous Francisco Lentini aka Frank. He toured with Barnum and Bailey. Check out my other items.
